What Is ANIMART?

Animart started out as Countryside Veterinary Services to serve the needs of farmers in the Randolph-Beaver Dam area. The first office opened in February 1981 in the back entrance of Dr. Metz's residence in Randolph, later expanding into an office behind the home. Dr. Metz felt the need for quality animal health products at reasonable prices available locally. Animart opened in the fall of 1982 in a small storefront on South Spring Street in Beaver Dam with mostly large animal products and six-feet of pet supplies. Responding to customer requests, Animart added more and more products for both large and small animals and was soon bulging at the walls. One year after opening, the business expanded 100 percent and moved to its present location on North Spring Street - and two years later remodeled to expand another 100 percent in office and retail space. Animart gradually grew by remodeling the basement for office space, adding a fish department, purchasing warehouse space, adding delivery trucks, developing Animart catalog sales, acquiring the SuperWormer Company and opening a second store location in Madison in July, 1990. Animart today has more than 50 employees between Madison and Beaver Dam locations. The large animal business has grown to seven field reps that visit some of Wisconsin's largest animal production units. Wayne Keil, Tom Klas, John Taylor, Kirk Warmka, Mark Kunde, Greg VanBuren, and Pat Mueller head up the sales department of our large animal division of Animart and Dr. James Metz works as the full-time large animal veterinarian.
