AMG has a full engineering department that designs equipment for scrap management projects, scrap-handling operations and industrial plants. AMG regularly works with can manufacturers and other industrial customers to recommend, design and install equipment that reduces their overall scrap-handling costs. Through a joint venture established in 1995 with Corus, one of the largest integrated steel mills in Europe, AMG markets new scrap-processing technology. AMG's proprietary, patented equipment is currently operating throughout the world, and AMG has been commissioned to design full operational facilities in Europe and Australia. One of AMG's most successful innovations is the Cutler shredder, which is at the heart of AMG's used can and detinning plants. Designed at AMG's Hartlepool, U.K. plant, the Cutler shredder utilizes rotating toothed wheels, rather than hammers, to shred cans and other light scrap into small nuggets. AMG has constructed and installed more than 30 Cutler shredders worldwide, both at AMG sites and for customers.
