What Is AFCEA Belvoir?

The Belvoir Chapter is honored to support the Fort Belvoir community by providing a bridge for networking between government and IT industry professionals. Fort Belvoir is home to over 90 diverse tenant and satellite organizations from the Department of Defense, including PEO EIS, INSCOM, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Army Cyber Command, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), DTIC, PEO Soldier, and many others. AFCEA Belvoir serves as a bridge between government requirements and industry capabilities, representing the top government, industry, and military professionals in the fields of information technology, communications, and intelligence. Since 1993, our chapter has focused on the Fort Belvoir Community and surrounding areas. The Chapter holds monthly luncheons and Small Business receptions featuring key speakers from Fort Belvoir and beyond, and we have an active and growing Young AFCEAN community. AFCEA Belvoir donates around $100,000 annually in grants and scholarships to area schools and deserving college students, thanks to the support of our members and corporate partners. We are exceptionally proud to support the Fort Belvoir Elementary School through a computer science lab that puts students at the forefront of technology in STEM areas. The chapter also provides science fair judges (and prizes) for the Prince William County Science Fair.In the spring of 1993, senior leadership of the US Army Information Systems Software Command (USAISSC) and PEO STAMIS conceived the idea of forming a new AFCEA Chapter for the Washington NCR that would focus predominately on Information Technology (IT). They coordinated with AFCEA International who wholeheartedly supported this endeavor. They also coordinated with major IT companies in the Northern Virginia area such as EDS, CSC, SRA and PRC, soliciting their assistance and backing of this new Chapter. In May 1993, the Fort Belvoir Chapter received its official charter.
