What Is A. Zahner Co?
A. Zahner Company has been in business for over 100 years. The company was founded in 1897 after Andrew Zahner moved to Kansas City from Joplin, Missouri where he had another company called Eagle Cornice Works. Eagle Cornice Works provided custom architectural metal cornices to many of the advancing towns of southern Missouri and eastern Kansas. Metal was experiencing its first United States renaissance in architecture at the end of the 19th Century. Galvanized steel was developed, aluminum was just invented, and stainless steel was just around the corner. Since the beginning, the company has concentrated on producing custom architectural and ornamental metal work for the commercial industry. Moving from a regional operation to an international presence, Zahner has worked on many of the most fascinating architectural and sculptural projects utilizing metal as a major design material.
