84 Lumber Company is the largest privately held supplier of building materials in the United States. Founded in 1956 by Joe Hardy in the town of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, twenty miles south of Pittsburgh, 84 Lumber is still growing. In 2003, we opened 17 new stores, raising our company\'s store count to 450 locations in 34 states from coast to coast. In two of the past three years, 84 Lumber sold more building materials to professional contractors and remodelers than any other supplier. Our company reported sales of $2.1 billion in 2002, with 80% of that total coming from professional contractors.
