As of May 1, 2017, 3M Cogent is now Gemalto Cogent, Inc., part of the Gemalto Government Business Unit. Our biometric solutions enable government agencies to better solve crimes, prevent fraud in voting or public benefit applications, secure national borders, or protect identities for a variety of other applications, such as access control and employee/applicant background checks. On May 1, 2017, Gemalto N.V., a public company incorporated in the Netherlands, acquired 3M’s Identity Management business, including 3M Cogent, 3M Document Readers and 3M Secure Materials businesses. Gemalto Cogent is now part of the Government Business Unit, which serves more than 100 customers worldwide in programs providing national identity and resident permits, electronic passports, healthcare, tachograph, driver’s license/vehicle registration, and border and visa management.
