What Is 2030 Water Resources Group?

“Water crises” have consistently ranked among the top global risks for nearly a decade. If countries maintain a business-as-usual approach to managing water, we can expect a 40 percent gap between freshwater supply and demand by 2030. The 2030 Water Resources Group (2030 WRG) is a public-private-civil society partnership hosted by the World Bank Group. The initiative supports government-accelerated reforms with the aim of ensuring sustainable water resources management for the long-term development and economic growth of their country. It helps governments change the political economy of water in their countries by convening a wide range of actors and provides water resources analyses in ways that are appealing for politicians, administrators, and business leaders outside the traditional water sector. Country partners are the driving forces in setting priorities and in identifying, implementing, and scaling innovative solutions. A key priority is ensuring all stakeholders have a voice and are included in the process. Our global partners include bilateral agencies and governments (Swiss Development Cooperation, Swedish Development Cooperation, the governments of Hungary and Israel), private companies (Nestlé, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, Ab InBev), development banks (IFC, World Bank, African Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank), INGOs and IGPs (UNDP, GGGI, GWP, the World Economic Forum, BRAC and IUCN). The 2030 WRG was launched in 2008 at the World Economic Forum and has been hosted by The World Bank Group since 2012.
