About
K9s For Warriors is the nation's largest non-profit organization providing service canines to warriors suffering from Post-traumatic, Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Military Sexual Trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. Our goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. We specialize in obtaining and training service dogs to place with disabled American veterans who have been injured in conflicts of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over 400,000 of our warriors have come home disabled. One in five suffers from post-traumatic stress, and one in six will attempt suicide. We are dedicated to defeating veteran suicide by pairing war veterans with our trained service dogs, over 90% of which come from rescue shelters. With over a third of our staff being veterans, we are proud to have received the Outstanding Veteran Employer Award from VetJobs in 2016. In May, 2017, we won the Excellence in Giving, Certified Transparency award, given to nonprofits for their openness in program reporting. In January 2018, we opened our second campus near Gainesville, FL, that is intended to serve female veterans exclusively. Called the Gold Family Campus, it is a donated, 67-acre property with nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It is energy-independent thanks to $1 million worth of solar panels. You can also find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and visit our YouTube Channel.
