What Is iACT?

Based in Los Angeles, iACT is a groundbreaking international action organization with a mission to inspire a more mindful humanitarian system. Our vision is a world where the dignity, humanity, and agency of conflict-affected people are recognized, affirmed, and supported. All of iACT's work is grounded in community collaboration, trauma-informed approaches, restorative practices, and peacebuilding skill-development. Through responsive action campaigns and leadership development in the U.S., iACT provides tools and training necessary to create a new culture of participation for people facing and responding to identity-based violence and humanitarian crises. iACT utilizes innovative thinking, human-centered design, and collaborative relationships to co-create culturally relevant and replicable programs in refugee communities. Through innovative, human-centered program design, iACT adapts our programs and frameworks based on the needs expressed by the community we work in partnership with. Our iterative learning and implementation model includes: listening, program co-creation, connecting deeply with the community, and providing ongoing support as community members lead. iACT’s long term goal is to increase the opportunities for people affected by genocide and mass atrocities to use their agency, voice, and capacity to create, manage, and expand programs that meet the immediate and long term needs of their community. We work to ensure displaced children and youth are able to exercise their rights to education and healthy development, while providing employment, leadership, and professional development opportunities for parents and caregivers.
