What Is YHA?

YHA is a charity with a clear vision: \n\nWe believe travel, adventure and discovery transforms young lives.\n\nWe create opportunities to explore, learn, share and grow in inspirational places.\n\nWe do this by providing a unique range of accommodation and activities in rural, coastal and urban locations.\n\nYHA is aiming to reach out and enhance the lives of all young people. We operate a network of more than 200 Youth Hostels, bunkhouses and camping barns across England and Wales. \n\nWe’re also part of an international network of Youth Hostels in 60 countries around the world.\n\nThe first Youth Hostel was started 100 years ago and since then the idea has spread right around the world. We’re proud of our history and of the part we play in creating\n\nGrowth in skills, confidence, self reliance and well being \nEngagement with diverse people and communities \nExploration of wider horizons of culture and location, particularly for young people.\n\nAnyone can stay with YHA. We are open to all. Our accommodation and social spaces, our tradition of sharing, offers everyone the chance to mix with and meet people from other communities and from around the world.\n\nThrough YHA, people are able to explore new places, to understand different cultures: an experience which encourages and enhances the growth of all.
