What Is Tablelands Regional Council?

The Tablelands region is an area covering 64,768 square kilometres of diverse landscapes including world heritage rainforests and crater lakes, expansive savannahs and wetlands, along with a variety of rural and agricultural farming. Located in Far North Queensland, the Tablelands Regional Council jurisdiction extends north to Walkamin,west to Mt Garnet and south to Millaa Millaa. The administrative hub for the region is the town of Atherton,with smaller towns and villages including Malanda, Herberton, Ravenshoe, Mt Garnet,, Millaa Millaa, Tolga, Walkamin and Yungaburra. The population of 46,937 (ERP at June 2010) is dispersed across this large, geographically diverse region which is slightly larger than the land mass of Tasmania.
