What Is San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care?

San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care is a not-for-profit, independent health care organization providing expert pain management and compassionate care to adults, children and infants living with serious or life-limiting illness. We serve patients and families throughout all of San Diego County. Our Mission Statement To prevent and relieve suffering and promote quality of life, at every stage of life, through patient and family care, education, research and advocacy. Our History San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care has earned the community’s respect over the past 28 years by providing exceptional care to those in need. The organization established the County’s first hospice program in 1977; and, has added comprehensive palliative care services over the past six years in response to the needs of the community. Palliative care services include a licensed Home Health program, physician consultation services, comprehensive bereavement support and education, a specialized children’s program, and the nation’s largest physician specialty training program through the Center for Palliative Studies. Today, San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care has become one of the largest home care hospices in the country and is a nationally recognized leader in hospice care, education and research.
