What Is MyPoint Credit Union?

PLCU has always been committed to its membership and the community it serves. PLCU community involvement in 2002 included the annual Children\'s Safety Fair and PLCU fundraisers for the American Cancer Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Children\'s Miracle Network. Altogether, these events raised over $11,000 for the community. PLCU awarded $2,500 scholarships to three local high school seniors who graduated last June. These young PLCU members were awarded scholarships based upon essays they wrote, their academic achievements, and their extracurricular activities. In addition, they will be eligible to receive an additional $1,000 per year for their sophomore, junior, and senior years. Our credit union experienced tremendous growth and success in spite of a volatile economy. Our total assets are now over $479 million. Loan balances in 2002 increased by over 10% and shares rose nearly 15%. We continue to prosper financially as we continue to grow our reserves. The following Treasurer\'s Report will provide you with more detailed information on the financial soundness of the credit union. The year 2003 will be an exciting one for PLCU. Four new branches and two virtual branches are scheduled to open within the year. Virtual branches are 100% automated, much like an ATM, and allow members to conduct all their banking transactions from the convenience of these practical \"branches.\" Since 1948, innovative value-added products and services have been the essence of PLCU. From checking accounts to online services and from loans to savings accounts, PLCU offers full-service financial solutions. We are committed to everyday personal service and dedicated to challenging ourselves for the better-for you, the member-owner of Point Loma Credit Union.
